Artist Statement
In order to receive nature’s teachings and blessings, I believe we must look and listen deeply—with our entire beings.
Good relationship with the natural world requires giving respect, paying close attention and being responsible. It entails receptiveness not only to what is visually apparent but also to what is present spiritually.
The images I share are intended to convey reverence for the cultural landscapes and seascapes comprising the traditional territories of Indigenous Peoples and countless other forms of life. These places should be honored and defended. For millennia they have been—and still remain—home to animal and plant relatives and Tribal Nations, maintained through intergenerational care and reciprocity to ensure abundance and wellbeing.
